trust me Anna, in India especially this is absolutely true. it
is usually the mother or sister in law as is responsible for
making
life a livin hell for a woman.

I too agree with Anir's reading of indian family's domestic affairs. Some of
my friends' wives in Dubai do not like to visit India alone leaving their
husband here, simply because they prefer to avoid the dreaded mother-in-law
and sisters-in-law in his absence. If not more, half the trouble inflicted
upon a married woman emanates from women, the other half coming from lousy
quality men. For this reason one of my long time Kashmiri Pandit girl friend
has opted to remain spinster. She has no regrets whatsoever.
