There are two kinds of fool. One says, "This is old, and therefore good."
And one says, "This is new, and therefore better." -John Brunner,
science fiction writer (1934-1995)

them as

representing the views of the public. >

i agree. they are religious heads, speaking for their religion.

we have other leaders of the society too who speak on social matters.

at least in India the leadership of Islamic people seems to skate on a thin
line here.

the political Muslims unabashedly play the religious card.

no one tells them to shut up.

the essential point is the Muslims with modern views are still to get a
good spokesman for them.

by enlarge the Indian Muslims seem to be more Muslim than their brethren in
Islamic countries.

This is an interesting analysis. I always assumed that Indian communists do
not follow the atheistic

principles of Marx and Engels but are quite religious in nature.

>>at least in my part of the country they are like their "dravidian"
colleagues.

hypocrites!

they believe but will not accept that they do so.

they have lost the faith in the communist philosophy too.

i asked them why they continue to be communists then.

the reply was that having opened a shop and doing a business they can not
afford to close it down!

<<<I would rather say people are ritualistic and not necessarily

religious.

IF being religious means having belief in some power then even

atheist must have experienced it.The faith is never unwavering

although some of us would like to believe it that way, it just

keeps following crest and trough.

As far as public display of rituals are concerned , don't read too

much into it, more so when a politician is involved.>>>

fully agree with this.

so many people who perform so many " religious " acts do so

but often whether they do with faith is questionable.

some half faith,----"why not, it may be true"---some fear, what if some
thing bad happens if i don't --, some acts under peer pressure.....

as far as a politician is concerned anything that will fetch votes goes!.

3.rawat:

<<What you state is a scientific fact. yet the way several

Muslims give birth to children, they might be intending to

surpass hindu population.>>

we do find Muslims undergoing sterilisation but hide it from elders!

that is what is giving me hope and credence to zaveri's theory that a new
wind has started blowing.

4.HI GIREESH! there are two active venus in the forum now.

did you confuse between the two?

5.farook:

<<Please correct me if I am mistaken , it is frequently woman who is the

greatest enemy of woman !>>

absolutely true.

it irks me so much when the so called woman activists keep blaming the men
while the mother in law is almost always one of the perpetrators.

6. and kamsa makes another appearance.

the first impulse of kamsa was to kill devaki on hearing the "asariri".

but vasudeva prevailed on him promising to hand over all their off springs
to him.

later kamsa usurped the throne and became king, arrested the couple and put
them in jail (house arrest).

perhaps thought it is better to be sure to locate the enemy and destroy
rather than live in uncertainty.

even such kings would follow some concepts of dharma and not separate a
couple is my thinking.

7.lastly most of the 38 Indians " lost " in Israel have been located and
kicked back to India --Indian express news item.
