Indian Mother-in-law -- Saint or Shrew ???...

trust me Anna, in India especially this is absolutely true. it
is usually the mother or sister in law as is responsible for
making
life a livin hell for a woman.

and then she becomes a mother and repeats the entire cycle preferring her
sons...

If not more, half the trouble inflicted
upon a married woman emanates from women, the other half coming from lousy
quality men.

'perpetrators' to the tradition that which always ruled their lives, and
which men are not so willing to change...

it irks me so much when the so called woman activists keep blaming the men
while the mother in law is almost always one of the perpetrators.

=====> Believe me, I am not an FCP, but just have to ask this: do they not
live in te society designed by men..?
If the tradition of living in joint families were not so strong, perhaps the
problem would not be so serious.
Anyway, in cultures where it is natural for a married couple to live on
their own, mother-in-law perpetrators exist too. But in a more 'democratic'
way - some harm their sons' wives, and some - their daughters' husbands. It
simply takes all sorts of people.
I am lucky to have a great mother in law.

HARSHAL:
The Pope has great influence on a number of politicial decisions
in countries with a large number of Catholics. The current Pope
is in fact credited with playing an important role in the downfall
of the Soviet Union.

======> This is very much true. He openly supported the Solidarity movement
which began the chain of changes more or less directly leading to the
collapse of communist regimes in Europe. And to the pulling down of  Berlin
Wall.
He has never kept off from political issues.
