Three girl students killed for not wearing "burqa"

Jammu, Dec. 20. (UNI): Three girl students were shot dead by militants in
Thanamandi area of Rajouri district late last night, just a day after
posters appeared ordering women to wear `burqas'.
Official sources said unidentified militants barged into a house of Mohammad
Sadiq at Hasyote village in the Thanamandi area and shot dead his daughter
Noureen Kousar (21).
After that they entered another house of Khalil Ahmad in the same village
and kidnaped one Tahir Parveen (18), a student of class 12 and later
beheaded her.
Militants then barged into the house of Mohammad Rafiq and shot dead her
daughter Shehnaz Akhtar. Sources said all the victims were students and
might have been targeted by the militants for not wearing "burqas."
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and the entire area was
cordoned off by the security forces.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the crime.
It may be recalled police have seized some posters pasted on the walls of
two senior secondary schools in Rajouri town on December 16 threatening girl
students in Rajouri district to wear "burqas" or face the consequences. They
were brought out by a lesser-known terrorist outfit, Lashker-e-Jabbar, in
hand-written Urdu.
Some posters were also seen in the Darhal area of the same district last
fortnight following which some students have left their schools while others
have begun wearing burqas.
