---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad. -Salvador Dali, painter (1904-1989) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well Politicians are great chameleons In West Bengal, the communists have Hijacked the Puja celebrations to create Vote Banks in the same way as Shiv Sena in Mumbai, also the subscriptions to the Durga Pujas go to the Party, thus keeping it cash rich... Needless to say the Puja Pandals in Calcutta disturb traffic and flout all possible rules... But it's fun to move around Calcutta checking out the pandals and statues of the Diety, they actually theme out the Puja Pandals... Regards, MAverick -----Original Message----- From: Harshal Chhaya I always assumed that Indian communists do not follow the atheistic principles of Marx and Engels but are quite religious in nature. How else do you explain Jyoti Basu's (one of India's most well-known communists) active participation in the annual Durga Pooja festivities? I bet a majority of communists in Kerala too are religious in nature. Can Ravi, Farook, Venugopal et al confirm or deny? - Harshal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To join/leave, use the form at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/#options This list is archived at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
