Re: [nukkad] Excel: Auto complete

Rawat,

I don't believe that this list of autocomplete entries
can be manipulated in any way using notepad.

The way it works is as follows:

Enter ABC on the first cell (A1)
In Cell A2,
Enter A and wait - you should see BC highlighted - all
you need to do is press enter
Instead of taking the ABC that Excel has autocompleted,
enter AXY.
In cell A3,
Enter A and wait - nothing will happen. Why? Because
there are two possible completions: BC and XY.
Enter B and wait - the letter C should appear as an
autocompletion. If you backspace and change it to X, you
will see Y appear as autocompletion.

Thus, if you have a few unique entries, the
autocompletion will work with less typing - as long as
the uniqueness appears in the beginning. If the
uniqueness appears in the end, you will have to wait
until there is just one hoice which is when Excel will
offer to autocomplete.

There IS a shortcut available to pick from a shortened
list instead of typing until you reach uniqueness: Start
with the first few characters and then press <ALT>-<DOWN
ARROW> This will give you a shortened list that matches
what you have entered so far. Use the arrow keys to go
down until you reach the value to be entered.

When you leave a cell blank, Excel erases this list of
autocompletion entries from memory and starts all over.

This autocompletion works only for columns.
