---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was conceptualising a software that reads scanned text pages and converts that to ascii text. It seems technically possible. I scan a page typed in english. and ask the software to process it. The software starts reading it bit by bit and it keeps on matching it with various fonts files available in the computer. To start with, we can highlight font/ size/ bold etc features to help the software find a quicker match, but I think it can be automatically done by the software. On the other hand, we can even select a small text area and manually type in the word written there to "tell" the software to find match. So it extracts the ascii charaters from the bit pattern, and saves in a text file (for that matter, it can even construct formatted text files like winword's .doc). If such a software exists, please give me the url. If not, is there any able programmer son of mother india who can set out to develop this? It is going to be revolutionary product. It will facilitate so many things. Faxes/ photocopies, entire books can automatically be converted to text and then can be edited. Guess the market potential of this. -Rawat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To join/leave, use the form at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/#options This list is archived at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
