Not only Nehru made her Congress president, but also prevailed over cabinet
opinion to appoint her as Minister for Information & Broadcasting.
She was also the prime reason for the dismissal of first ever democratically
elected communist government that came to power in Kerala in 1959, the fact
Keralites have not forgotten even today.

Thanks Rawat for clarifying. It was Sitaramaiyah's candidature that Gandhiji
forcefully supported against Bose. I guess it was 1935 or 1937 session of
Congress,
either at Lahore or Nagpur. ( am not very sure)
