---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Always proofread carefully to see if you any words out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sam Said: >but that is because I am not an IT person. Also... I am unfamiliar with the Indian telecommunication scenario. :-) ## Dear Sam you Said you are not an IT person but after reading and understanding your question's, i am in total disagreement with your statement ;-) >Sam : Hope digital wireless communication helps to bridge the gap between the villages and the cities. By the way... who is Ambani's business partner (Asian/European/US)? (it is not mentioned in the article... or am I missing something? :-( ) ## Dear you are not missing anything the best thing about this is that there is no outside company partners in this project maybe that its a complete reliance project, maybe that is the reason why they can provide a call at 40 paise/min with a 15 sec pulse it means if you talk for 15 secs you dont have to pay for 30/60 secs as is the current scenario with other mobile services in india. Incoming calls are free! all this is possible because of 600000 Kms(still increasing) of terabyte fiberoptic cable's laid by reliance INDIA. By the way have you not heard about Reliance India , I suggest you visit www.ril.com . That would finish any doubts about the company in your mind. >Sam : CDMA uses spread spectrum techniques. CDMA is not good if number of connections increases. Because this increases interference... which in turn effects the call quality. So the user who is farthest from the "station" will have the most interference and as IT folks say... "the call may be dropped". So... solution is to have more stations??... and of course excellent network planning and management... especially for crowded places. Quite a job ! ## Sam they are using this technology for limited mobility, It means that the user will have mobility in the same city. Roaming around the country is not available, look almost 70 to 80 % people need mobility in thier own town and in villages people hardly need mobility, at most upto thier farms so this is the most cost effective technology in case of limited mobility. and once the services spread across the country then they can provide fiber optic interconnectivity between two diffrent station's providing roaming facilities, till then the top priority is to give limited mobility! so a person being far from the station is out of Question ;-). >Sam : He is referring to SAN's (storage area networks). Now who is his business partner to help him with the SAN technology? What is the current SAN infrastructure? ## Right now its good but its getting better day by day i would suggest you visit this site of reliance which will give you the basic knowledge of what they have done in case of telecom http://www.relianceinfo.com/ >Sam : Will it be easy to take ethernet to homes... what is the current/popular "network access" infrastructure for homes ? ## In cities its dialup at most, and then the broadband at few places like metro's , in villages its postcard, But with the new technology i promise you that within years people from villages would be accessing broadband in no time. Thats why i said its a progress in right path, Now i would request people from diffrent organisation to help people learn the new technology in village because after this technology coming to comman man the only thing that is the barrier is the literacy about the technology. Sam: All Question's about java. ## Come on Sam do you really think that people do care so much about the technological part, Even after the mobile revolution has taken india at such a pace still for many people who use mobile its just a roaming phone, They dont even know the pro & cons about a mobile service for them if they pay the money they should be able to make a call and recive a call. belive me except for cities many other places and specially villages which the services promise to effect will not be using any of the highfy Java services till ten more years and till then i belive that the handset and the technology will be improved then today:-) >And the fate of CDMA vs GSM? Only time will tell which of the two will prevail. But at present... given how popular GSM is... it appears that GSM, or some combination of GSM and CDMA, may become the "solution" for a global wireless standard ??? ## Technology is there to be explored people keep making new things my suggestion to the company would be not to lock it self up to one technology rather than that they should keep options open for new and better technologies till then let us all keep the fingers crossed and hope this current technology takes india to its greatest height and sam would come to india to find a new Job for her self in next decade! ;-) Bye, Azim.b ------------------------------------------------- Sify Mail - now with Anti-virus protection powered by Trend Micro, USA.
