About appraisals of police: I remember having read the annual performance
appraisal of the local police chief in USA in the local newspaper! His boss
had said that the officer works hard but does not achieve the goals. He was
given six months to improve, else he would be sacked. (I don't know what
happened further.) I was surprised with this display of transparency.
