Tip of the day: Smile!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All this discussion says there were sporadic quakes of mild to moderate
intensity at places from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and beyond. How does one
know that there would be such a massive earthquake at Bhuj only?
At Killari, Latur, the rumbling sounds used to emanate from the ground for
over an year before the real earthquake. The local authorities invited all
the experts. They said there was no danger. What happened is history.
The fact is geologists believed until recent past that Deccan plateaux is
safe from earthquake. After the Koyna quake in 67, no major quake was
recorded till 93. Now they have changed their viewpoint.
I don't know how you say the intensity of Bhuj quake was 7.5.
Thanks and Regards,
Vilas D. Virdhe
