Tip of the day: Smile!

Mr.Vidhe, Mr. 'Shal and the non xenophobic Bombayite,
When there are so many varieties of subscribers young, old, extereme and
moderates there is bound to be a lot of heat and dust and it is a debate and
there is no need to take personal offence. And all opinions are largely based on
personal experience and partly on reading and interacting.
Summing up - I still re - itererate that people from other states ( especially
the category of traders and businessmen are interested in making money and are
insensitive to social and civic issues so long as it does not directly touch
their own comfy lives. Most of these traders and business men are tax evaders.
Mumbai has had foresight in Industry friendly policies,It has an equable
climate, good education and very very safe city from the point of view of crimes
affecting the common man. That's the reason people from all over donot hesistate
to live and settle in Mumbai.
The main reason for pollution is overcrowding and the insentitive attitude of
the rich ( eg. Bursting of lakhs of rs. of crackers during Diwali to name just
one.)
There are so many vested interests operating at all levels that it is impossible
to plan and administer the city - though BMC is doing a great job not to mention
Khairnar.
We have to stop this mindless infiltration that's the only solution to Mumbai's
problems. How long can we just grow vertically.
Regarding progress and development of continents after moving out of Africa. - I
really wonder what mankind has achieved after all this several hundred years of
so called civilsation. Concrete jungles, industries for fulfilling mankind's
needs or greed ( ?), deforestaion, reclaiming of sea, processed food, killing
and plundering of animal life, disease, death, war, nuclear bomb, atomic bomb.
We have only succesfully disturbed the balance of the earth and left only a
grave yard for future generations.
This reminds me of a saying - i dont remember the exact words - 'Man borrows the
earth from the earlier generation to lend it to the next generation'. So during
our brief journey on this earth if we cannot add anything atleast we should not
take away. That's the least we can do as citizens of this earth.
In anycase, I have a made a lot of friends during the course of this debate. So
thanks everyone.
Regards
Indira.
