I agree with Harshal, Zubin Mehta has been with quite a few
Philharmonic orchestra's around teh world, settling down with teh Tel
Aviv one for many years recently. He was photographed at an Agiary
during a recnet visit to Bombay. If he had converted I doubt he would
be allowed.
I have fond memories of David Reuben(?) he  lived in Santacruz and I
still remember him sitting outsiode his house drinking tea in teh
mornings as we jogged past his house on SV Road.
Kosher meat is almost the only meat available by default. Kosher
refers to teh way of slaughtering and is akin to Halal meat. I would
imagine it has to do with teh climate in those parts that the method
of slaughter was adopted. even teh Jews abhor pork just like the
Muslims. The truly traditional fundamentalist jews and Muslims dress
alike, with teh variant being in teh color of their clothing and skull
caps. White is preferred by Muslims and the Jews wear black.
Teh diamond traders and bankers amongs t teh Jews are mainly teh Hassidic Jews.
Talking of Kishore Zaveri was he also in Vile Parle? There was another
very rich Zaveri who I went to college with called Chetan Zaveri. His
best buddy and neighbour from teh Nanavati family was married to a
very good friend of mine.
