In think in the case of Sanjay Dutt, his father was a little too principled and refused to pull strings to save his son. At least that is my reading of his father. ==================================================== This principled father did his best to get Sanjay released, but could not succeed because the state / central government was not his, (Congress party's) and the charge he faced was much more serious than rash, drunken driving, in the wake of serial bomb blasts claiming 350 lives. After making Sanjay serve for a year or so in jail, Shiv Sena was ready to negotiate a deal with Sunil Dutt. He was forced to vacate the Behrampada constituency in north west suburb of Bandra and instead a Shiv Sena candidate was elected from there almost unopposed. Behrampada is that communally sensitive area of the city (with 50-50 population of both the communities), where the Muslims had sparked riots following demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya. This understanding between Sunil Dutt / Congress on one side and Thakare / Sena on the other was only for one term. In subsequent election Congress regained the seat. Thus Sanjay was made to pay the price for his alleged involvement in keeping illegal arms by keeping behind the bars for a year and his father, very willingly paid the price for his son's release. Where Sunil Dutt's principle ? In order to stay good in the eyes of his Muslim voters he is pampering them and spoiling them to keep backward for ever. Go visit the slums of Behrampada and observe the status of the orphans of both Hindus and Muslims who died in a fortnight long riots in early 1993 and you will discover that Hindu boys and girls have progressed far ahead of their Muslim counterparts. Now get the message why responsible parents do not pamper their children ? ALL the Arab/Muslim governmants are pampering their spoilt, criminal brats like Bin Ladin, Talibans and many others. That is why terrorism from Indonesia to Kashmir to Chechenya to Bosnia to England to America surivives, thrives.
