 Having achieved so much at a relatively young age, I have realised the true 
value of money. Money is important but not the most important thing in life. If 
it were, then I would have been able to get back my father, whom I lost when I 
was just thirteen years old. So, money can’t help you acquire anything and 
everything in life. All it does is give you the power of choice and freedom. 
Money today has enabled me financial independence, which is of paramount 
importance to me. Money cannot buy you true friends or bring the dead back to 
life. At the end of the day, I’ll eat biscuits made of flour and not gold.
    Regarding whether money and happiness are related, I would say that they 
are distant cousins. The larger the quantum of money you have, the greater are 
the numbers of fears that you will have to live with. With so many worries, a 
poor man on the road who does not have money for his next meal would appear 
happier than me. In fact, according to me, money and suspicion move 
hand-in-hand. This is because you will always believe that people you meet 
treat you in a particular manner because of the money attached to your name.
        Being a regular taxpayer, I am happy with the present tax regime and do 
not feel that we are over-taxed. I did a T.V. interview related to this, 
wherein the IT department had identified the ten highest taxpayers of the film 
industry, wherein I was the second highest taxpaying lady. My only grouse is 
that the tax system is very complicated and difficult to comprehend. Hence, my 
one appeal to the finance minister would be to simplify the tax system.
       The banking system in India is very good. However, they need to have 
tie-ups with banks in other countries. This is because though I may have 
millions in my bank account in India, if I am stuck somewhere overseas and I 
need money, there is no way out. Though, I can use credit cards, I have been a 
victim of credit card frauds twice. Therefore, I prefer using them sparingly.
