The events of murder, loot, sabotage, arson, private shootings, police firings were so frequent that this small town enjoys the dubious distinction of having the longest, continuous, year long dusk to dawn curfew. The year was 1949. Things calmed down only after Sardar Patel had shipped off miscreants to Pakistan. Like all muhajirs they preferred to settle down in Karachi, naming their locality Godhra Muhalla.
