>In Bihar, the use of unfair means in examinations is a rampant practice. Not
only students, parents also demand the right to use such means during
examinations.
During the height of the Communist and Naxal movements in India, in the late
sixties and early seventies, forcible use of unfair means during exams was a
common practice. A knife planted on the table next to the inkpot, students
would copy their way to glory. Professors were intimidated by the threat of
physical injury to them or their family members.
An instance of such an exam scene can be seen in Satyajit Ray's 1976 movie
'Jana Aranya' (The Middleman).
