i recall the discussions on this list about antivirus, anti spyware and 
firewall. according to the omniscient doctor mean, there is no one software 
that will take care of all. you have to use a combination. i followed his 
advise and have chosen the following combination. it is good and serves the 
home use purpose. all are free and update themselves automatically every now & 
then,


1.  Spyboat search and destroy - Application to scan for spyware, adware,
hijackers and other malicious software.
