Hello,

Comodo antivirus is the consensus. There is no better Firewall. Free or Paid.

With comodo Firewall, a majority of the requirements of antispyware aer taken 
care of because it incorporates Defense+ or D+ that keeps a watch on the 
processes and picks up suspicious activity resembling spywares. So there is no 
need to keep a running application. Maybe Keep Spybot installed. Update it 
regularly and do an ad hoc scan once in a while. In fact after Comodo Firewall 
I have no antispyware installed.

As for antiviruses, the field is wider open. Avast Home or AVG Home are both 
viable options. But they do have some functions disabled as compared to Pro 
versions. Comodo antivirus, though I have not tested, I am sure will be as good 
as their firewall. And if you don't like it, there is always an uninstall.

And finally, the best antivirus is paranoia. Suspect everything.
