True, but most of the  Americans voluntarily came to America  some 200  years 
ago. They left their homes and headded for a new life in a new land.  They 
conciously decided  to leave their own nattions cultures, traditioan and knew 
they will  face new ones that they have to join their lives together with. They 
often  left because they didn'T aagree with their own countries policy anymore, 
most of them were suppressed or poor people and yes.I agree they managed and 
still mannage tolive as anaation because they found a democratic way of living 
together. 
 And yet  - there  were fights between northern and southern States,
 fights against the Native Americans and those poor blacks that were sold to 
Americans as slaves  still today have to suffer of the  colour of their skin- 
more or less.

I am sure there are good and valid reasons for this to happen and the single
most reason,
atleast to my mind is a functioning democracy wherein the voice and
interests of each group is more or less represented.

I agree to the above!

But nevertheless take a look at the former Sowjet Union!   All  the Nations 
that were gathered under the socialistic crip of Moscow  seperated as soon as 
they were gifted democracy . Wasn't seperation a democratic act there?

Seperation and demand for secession aren't a neccessarily a contrast to 
democracy - to my opinion.
