  First of all, I would like to say that part of the problem with the 
current situation in India is precisely this.. that people are not proud of 
who they are .. Indian and the nonchalance that ensues from that.
To answer the question of why am I proud to be Indian... well minus the 
history lesson or not mentioning the facts that it is a wonderful blend of 
so much culture, so many traditions and religions and languages, the simple 
reason would be that it is who I am. Agreed the current political situation 
is not something to be proud of.. but the nation still is.
I dont understand why exactly you are not proud of being an Indian, when the 
entire western culture is gradually focusing on India and recognising it for 
the vast influence it has had on the world in the past. I dont even know why 
I am writing this because I dont need any solid reasons to be proud of 
India.. I just am..
