A long time ago in this very galaxy, 'nukkad' had the 'Reply To list'
enabled. I did that to enable people to write directly to the list
and to foster discussion. However, that had some very interesting
and very negative side-effects. Most people did not realise that their
messages were going to the list even though this was made clear in
the 'subscribe' message as well as in frequent reminders. Hence,
personal messages were sent to everyone on the list. This resulted in
rejoinders which begat more responses and pretty soon we had total
chaos. For a couple of examples, check out

(look for the 'Land of Dreams' thread here and on the previous page)
and

(look for the 'James Bond : White do-gooder?' thread here and on
the previous page)
And here is where I explain that the 'reply-to' behavior has been modified.

Of course, that was when the list was 'open' - any subscriber could
send directly to the list. Now that I scan and monitor the messages,
this may not be a big problem.
BTW, I use 'elm' and it has two reply options - Reply and Group Reply.
Using 'Group Reply' puts the orig. sender's address in 'To' and
nukkad's address in Cc. Seems to work OK.
I don't have anything against changing the setting if enough people
want it. Let me know if this is a big deal.
