I certainly know what you mean. My mother-tongue happens to be Marathi.

pronounce.

Then `Ville Parle' makes more sense. Do you have any cites for `vidle
padle'?

Of course, `padle' means `fell' in Marathi, so `Vidle' could be someone's
name. `Vidle padle' would be where Mr. Vidle fell, or was defeated.


Joke: Given that Breach Candy is a European name, does `Parle' have any
sweet connotation?
