TWO ARMIES

Two armies, facing off across Wagah, Nagar and Thar
Poorest paid foot soldiers both sides, with pot bellied subedars

Chor uchakka politicians both sides, whiny image conscious khoklas
On one some semblance of democracy, the other rank gun based autocracy

On one side pretenses of secularism, a free press of sorts, bisected sects
On the other Khuda and Iman and Jhanda and danda and faujibhai elects

Nothing can come of nothing, ten will die, a hundred homeless bhavans
Stale stalemates, power blocks will contrive, over bodies of dead ones.

When nothing happens all the time and there is much talk of God
Sooner or later Shaitan emerges from the pious punctilious Pod.
