Re: Re: Del Meet Jinx

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cars of the future will be like the cars of today. Only different.
And in the future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The meeting took place today 7-30 to 10-30 p.m. at Essex
restaurant near IIT, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. I reached first [I
live nearest], Ragini followed [and left at 8-30 as visitors were
waiting for her at home. She leaves tomorrow morning for Kanpur,
returns same night, flies to US next day. Some hectic scedule!].
Shefali and Manoj came later, to be joined by Anirudh.

Ragini told how much diferent Rawat was from the mental image she
had of her till she met him in Indore. I agreed that even his
telephonic talk conveyed the same feeling to me.

Shefali and Manoj are a nice pair, working in the same company as
SW professionals. They came from Gurgaon. Anirudh came from
Faridabad. He was quite different from the mental picture I had of
him. He declared that depression and he are poles apart; are, in
fact, mutually incompatible. I had to remind him how the list had
to try as a team to boost his spirits not so long back.

Ani found himself in a minority, being sorrounded by married
people, and the inevitable followed: discussion about why it is
time for him to get married. He is 28. Scientific and sociological
reasons were offered and an explanatory hypothesis was submitted
as to why women, in contrast to men, always take so much more
interest in marriage and marital status of young boys and girls.

We all partook of gajak, moongphali patti and namkeen so
considerately sent for the meet by Rawat through Ragini. I added
in a bit of sweets as a token of the happy occasion of finding a
match for my son during his 3 week visit from US. He flew back
today 3 p.m. and I got a call from him from Hongkong during the
meet.

Rawat, Rohit and Anna called from Indore, Dubai and Poland during
the meet and talked to all present. Anna called on my cell twice,
but, each time, all I could hear was well...well....well.
Ultimately, I gave the phone to Ragini, and the two were able to
talk for quite a few minutes. That only strengthens my suspicion
that women have their own unfathomable codes, waves and wibes!

Ragini carried her camera and took a few pictures, which she would
be posting after she reaches US.

Anirudh was kind to drop me home as I was without my car, it
having been taken away by my son [not to USA! I meant my younger
son who decided to follow my profession as doctor].

Ages of nukkies were discussed. Homi Arya was announced as being
70+, and everybody was quite impressed that he is quite productive
even at this age! Ani thought I am around 50 and I had to reveal
that I would be 61 on 23 Jan, which immediately generated
suggestions that we Delhi nukkies, minus Ragini but plus a few
more who could not come today, meet once again to usher me into
the 62nd year of terrestrial sojourn.

Academic credentials of members were discussed, too. Doubts were
cast about the bona fides of those who pass off as doctors, though
they would be better described as lawyers or alternative medicine
practitioners, such as acupuncture. On Shefali's genuine query, I
had to confirm that I possess genuine MBBS and MD degrees and have
indeed been a professor. I also stated that Arya, too, is a
genuine MBBS doctor.

All in all, it was a good meeting/melting point. Shefali and Manoj
got married last February; wish them happy anniversary in advance.
Ani told us about a bet he has had with his cousin sister on the
condition that if he loses it, he would lose his bachelorhood. I
genuinely wish he is the loser. As per the terms of the bet, the
result will be known in about 9 months from now.
