When we judge or criticize another person... it says nothing about
that person.  It merely says something about...
               -- our own need to be critical --

Criticism never does any good... ever. Not only that... it also
solves nothing. It only contributes to anger and distrust among
people.

None of us like to be criticized. And people's reaction to criticism
is usually to become defensive and/or withdrawn.

Criticism... like swearing... is nothing more than a bad habit.
Its something we get used to doing... it keeps us busy and gives
us something to talk about.

If, however, we take a moment to observe how we actually feel
immediately after we criticize someone... well... we actually feel
a little deflated and ashamed... almost like we are the one who has
been 'attacked'. And the reason this is true is that when we
criticize ... we are telling the world and ourselves,
"I am miserable and I want to hurt others. I have the need to be
critical". And honestly... this is not something we are usually proud
to admit. ;-)

Personally... I have found that everytime I have been critical... it
makes me feel bad. I feel ashamed of myself. And I hope as I grow
older, I will be able to turn my criticism into tolerance and respect.
