hmmm... "...everybody's business"... I see that...  ;^]

So, folks in India do not care about privacy... folks in the West
are obsessed with privacy. Two extremes... :-)
So... the ideal situation is "something in the middle" ? :-)

But... in the Western culture, since privacy of the individual is
important... the --individual-- is important!
              The individual matters.   :-)

And because (s)he matters, (s)he is able to put his or her foot
down... to take a stand on principles and/or even to take on injustice.

This empowerment of the individual is pretty unique to the Western
civilization. It has made the individual a citizen equal in rights
to all other citizens... protected from tyrannical government by the
rule of law and free speech. And all this did not happen in a day...
they are a result of centuries of struggle.

The "elevation" of the individual gave him a "voice". :-)

Formerly... those with power had a voice. And we know what happened.
A good example is the extermination of 6 million Jews because they
were members of a race that had been terrorized by intellectuals and
political authority.

But today, in the Western civilization, people with integrity...
a sense of justice...honor...duty... have a voice.

History has shown that when the individual becomes important...
then reformers can reform, investors can invest, and entrepreneurs
can create commercial enterprises, new products and new occupations.
The result is a land of opportunity. And a good example is...
the United States.

On the other hand, if empowerment of the --individual-- is hurt,
the community suffers... the nation suffers.
