I do not hold a brief either for or against conversion. It is when yourown 
religion fails to deliver that you would look outside at another religion. 
The greatness of yours or anothers is nothing to rant and rave about.

However I think Dr Gupta despite all your learning in the real world and the 
world of books you have committed an enormous gaffe if you like.

These are not castes. They are sects that while Islam and Christianity may 
be a general cloak under which they fall they are clearly distinct from each 
other in some basic beliefs.

The different sects have different heads for their religion. The Pope is not 
head of the protestant church nor is the Archbishop of Canterbury regarded 
as a leader amongst the Catholics.

This would be akin to saying that the four SHankaracharya's apply to the 
Brahnmins only and that the Kshatriya's, Shudras have their own religious 
heads.

This is the prime reason that I find the discussion of religion offensive. 
We and in this instance you are not qualified to do so because you do not 
comprehend the basics. And if the funda's are not clear how can you consider 
yourself qualified to debate the higher or finer points?

Secondly your friend faces the same problems that any minority does. But how 
good looking is your friends daughter? that is also a factor. Being a doctor 
and in teh UK is not always a qualification that is good enough. SOme of 
Bombays top doctors and i shall quote a few were/are catholics (were cos 
they are no more). A roll call for your pleasure
