---------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you don't execute your ideas, they die. -Roger von Oech, author and consultant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all, This mid-week, I saw a couple of off-beat movies. Mr. & Mrs. Iyer, directed by Aparna Sen was one of them. This is the story of an orthodox traditional Tamilian housewife (played very well by Konkona SenSharma - Aparna Sen's daughter). She is travelling alone with her one year son on a long distance bus journey back to her in-laws place. Just before the journey, she is introduced to a co-passenger, 'Raja' Chowdhary, a young modern photo-journalist - who is in fact 'Jehangir', a Muslim. The role is played by Rahul Bose. The story deals with the volatile Hindu-Muslim communal situation. The communal riots disturb & hold over the bus journey - The orthodox Iyer girl & the boy are compelled to be companions over a few days in the curfewed way-side town. Mrs. Iyer saves the photographer's life from the militant Hindus by claiming that he is her husband, Mr. Iyer! They bond & get attracted to each other, without any sexual overtones! The movie is thought provoking and quite convincing. Best Wishes.. Have a Nice Day.
