OLD AGE

Don't the young also age?

Soon as first breath is taken, one is on a countdown, and the newborn might
give up life in the early hours of the third night on earth.

If age is an ongoing process, "old" may either follow suit, or stand apart,
and this depends entirely on the uptake of the one who is growing.

You must have seen many young "old" who are wise beyond their age, and as
many
ones who have aged and are into their fifties, who have as much sense as a
teen who
has broken the first freckle.

Again there are some whose flesh ages far ahead of time and who are wrinkled
and
bent and have begun to lose hair at the pate. And there are the older ones
who never
seem to age who have a firm grip on yesterday and tomorrow, who can smile at
themselves and laugh at others, and sleep the contended sleep of those who
have lived
a full and faultless today.

Then there are the timid young who have never loved but know everything
about it
and will educate you at the earliest opportunity. They read the right books,
quote another's
poetry, sing someone else's song, and say the right things but run at the
sight of a real
woman who is all intent and extent and dangerous possibilities and very
kissable lips.

Real love is where both pretend to be equal and both know the woman has the
edge
because she is primitive and entirely devoid of logic or scruple. Where
there is such a love,
there is no age, and one is born every morning, wet with the womb's fluid.

If you are in Time, you will age
Enclosed in a gilded cage.

Live your today full to the brim
So that many read what you have scribed
On an empty unmarked page.
