Hi Samira,
  I dont have different definitions for the terms of nationalism and 
patriotism, I just used those terms since those are the ones i saw 
interchanged the most with Hinduism. I, personally dont see the connection 
between nationalism/patriotism and hinduism hence i asked the question.
  I was recently in Gujarat, during the elections on December 6th. I saw the 
zealot-like reactions amongst the people, even the educated masses and it 
was quite scary. Being raised in Bombay, I have rarely encountered such open 
discrimination and unreasonable hatred. I was always proud to belong to a 
"secular" country but perhaps with the increased demands for making Hinduism 
the state religion, that pride is shortlived.
