Re: [nukkad] POLL -- Stress Relief

What we need is either less corruption, or more chance to
participate in it.

Nukkad is a stress-reliever
agree?
==============================================================
The accepted defintion of stress is the excitement... feeling of
anxiety and/or physical tension that occurs... when demands placed
on us exceed our ability to cope.

Stress can be positive or negative.

Positive stress is associated with the excitement of say... going
camping or winning the lotto. Negative stress is what we experience
before an exam or we are lost in a strange city. Feelings like
anxiety, frustration, etc. ... lead to stress "build-up".

But... I cannot think of too many factors that contribute more to
stress, anxiety, frustration ... than a larger EGO.

I think of the ego as that part of us that needs to stand out and
be special. And while each one of us is certainly special and unique
in our own way... our ego has the need to prove this to everyone. :-)

The ego is that part of us which brags, exaggerates, criticizes and
judges others (and ourselves). The ego is very self-centered... as
if it needs to yell out, "Look at ME !". And because our ego is so
pre-occupied and selfish... it encourages us to lose our compassion
for and interest in others.

In short... the ego's sole "job" is to maintain itself.

Think of how much energy and attentiveness it takes to prove
ourselves, show off and defend our actions. Consider how stressful
it is to compare ourselves with others and to put ourselves
down. How physically and emotionally draining it is to constantly
keep score of how we are doing... and to be overly concerned with
what others think about us. ... The list goes on... :-(

The ego can be an enormous source of stress. And easing of our ego
is one of the best leveraged efforts we can make to reduce stress.

And all we need to "shrink" our ego are ...
              ... humility and patience.

Sincerely,
-Sam.
