---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hark to the whimper of the sea-gull; He weeps because he's not an ea-gull. Suppose you were, you silly sea-gull, Could you explain it to your she-gull? -- Unknown (seen on Bangalore-Talk) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- HIROO: > Good to find that you have so much interest in Bhagwad Geeta!< ==I have much interest in Indian culture so the above is just natural consequence. : ) ---------------------------------------------------------- V.K. VENUGOPAL: > Anna wrote: I once was 19 yrs old too, and still am a Taurean. So may I join the team..? : ))) Any more Taureans here? It is a pity I can never be Taurus, but still I like Cows. < == I am not sure I can catch your meaning... > Middle aged women are notoriously reluctant to disclose their age. Sorry! There are only young women and old women, no middle-aged women! Sorry again! There are women and young women - no middle-aged women or old women!< == The truth is that women are young, middle-aged, and old at the same time. No wonder you are confused, then. : )) -------------------------------------------------------- MC GUPTA: >Don't worry about the future, Don't about the past you grieve, You can only shape the present, In the present you must live. [How do you like that? Probably not bad for instant composition!]< == Not bad! : ) Indeed, this thought has often been expressed in this forum. And it seems to be deeply rooted in Indian philosophy [if such a category does exist], even if there are many substrata of that. A far as the second "don't" is concerned, there is a great poem by Adam Asnyk, a Polish poet from the beginning of the 20th century. I quote a part of it. As I am not capable of translating verse, let it be just an example for you of what the strange language of Poles looks like. : )) "Daremne zale, prózny trud, bezsilne zlorzeczenia, przezytych ksztaltów zaden cud Nie wróci do istnienia. Trzeba z zywymi naprzód isc, Po zycie siegac nowe, A nie w uwiedlych laurów lisc Z uporem stroic glowe." ----------------------------------------------- TAHER: > This is a famous ghazal, sung by Jagjit Singh for a movie. And, by the way, your Hindi IS improving.< == To be frank I must say that I took most of that from a phrase book, just changed an element or two. But I also try and work on my own. Unfortunately there is the generally experienced problem of time. And using the dictionary is a challenge - entries are in the Devanagari script, transliteration follows in the second place. So still a whole lot of work ahead of me! : ) Best, Anna. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Poczta nowych mozliwosci >>> http://link.interia.pl/f16bc ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To join/leave, use the form at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/#options This list is archived at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
