Re: [nukkad] nukkad guidelines

Anxiety is hereditary: you get it from your kids

In response to the last para in the 'nukkad guidelines' message
that read:
Remember that you own your words and that they own you.
Communicating on this list is akin to standing up in front of a
large audience and making a speech. In fact, it is worse since you
can't see them and have no idea of their reactions. Think about
this when you send your next message to "nukkad".

I didn't mean to scare anyone (it certainly didn't deter the voluble
list members one bit), just point out the reality of communication on
'nukkad' (and any other list). It is important to know that our emails
are being read by people we don't know.

Over the years, many ex-members have contacted me to remove their
posts from the list archives because the messages were causing
problems. Sometimes it was because their company did not want
them to use the official email for such purposes and other times
it was because they didn't realise that their messages were available
for all to read.

It is interesting to think that some of the people communicating online
so freely today will be running for public office or for some
important post in a few years. How will their online personalities
affect their real life? I guess we will know soon.
