That's really sorry stuff, Aniridh. I must say, not only empowerment of
women, but empowerment at the right age is necessary. In our society, the
problem is that we are so dependent on each other--and this is particularly
true for women who are so disadvantaged when it comes to the careers.
Parents won't start taking their daughters back--not in the way to solve the
problem of dowry. However, if women become independent at an early age,
there wouldn't arise a need either--independent, not only in terms of
career, but also in societal status. I have seen even the educated women who
are well placed in their career, earning well too, getting harassed by their
in-laws. The reason? They know she wouldn't make a noise; where would she
go!

Things are improving in that sense. More and more women are career oriented
these days--and hopefully empowerment and independent status will also come
through within time.
