last Sunday 13Jan08 after morn noon home chores
wife wanted to go out to nearby (3/4miles) Big Lots store;
after buying a couple of things, said lets go somewhere else;
where? this mandir nearby here; it was visible from Bl parking lot
being very high and on high base;

as v approached, saw parking lot all full with cars; i said
must be some big program; as v entered parklot saw many
patang kites flying there, then i realized it must be utraan
makar sankrati the kite flying day of Gujarat.

bought undhiyu etc from baps shop selling Gujarati
snacks farshan etc from trailer there in parklot,
set down at a table opposite it; as v were eating i saw an old man
in wheelchair at next table; per my usual habit, asked him
kayoo gaam? which town? said Bardoli. soon my eye caught
view of a firkee kite thread spool on their table; sign on its
side disc read Surat ni charkhee; was very enjoyed to see
name of my n wifes birth place just next to us.

so many colorful kites very flying; some of special shapes like garood 
bird etc
threads of number of them getting crossed rubbed and cut, kite
flying off, floating down, and people running after to catch,
all like in India; it is a very bit area.

within the mandir all murtees idols were decorated with colorful patangs,
firkees charkhees

(utraan - uttraayan -  when sun starts move towards uttar north;
in indian lunar calendar occuring near the actual 21dec)
