"I feel that killing a girl child before her birth by means of MTP i.e
Medical termination of Pregnancy or Abortion is not a sin as seen from the
eyes of the family who does MTP.
This is because if the family doesn't want a girl child and then if they
know that it is a girl child through Scanning, then they should be given the
right to drop the child."
Rajababu, I feel such a family who thinks of aborting a girl child should
be shown a documentary at the hospital itself on India's leading womens'
achievements and should be told that their unborn girl child could be one of
them.
"My point is that the said couple would not try again if they hit jackpot
in the first attempt. i.e a boy. I know this sounds crude, but then life is
made up of crude things, no matter how much spittle and poilsh we apply on
it."
Is this word "jackpot" your terminology or that's what you have been made to
believe ? Personally, I have come across many families in cities as well as
in native where a girl child for her parent has proved much more better
(fate) than a boy child.
"Also, only 30-40% of the poluation increase is on account of this
phenomenon. To give an example, Laoo Prasad Yadav has 10 children. I beleive
that the 3rd and the 5th children are boys and Nos. 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10 are
girls. So here you have an example of some other reason for extra kids, the
reasons for which falls out of the scope of discussion."
If Laoo Prasad Yadav wanted a boy child then he should have stopped after
the 3rd child. That means he is not clear of what he wants..
"Theoretically, if all the couple were to drop their girl kids, then the
man to woman ratio would be 4:1 by 2010 (like Japan), as compared to 1:5 Man
to woman ratio in India at present. "
Talking about women in Japan, they prefer to go for single parent. This
revolution might take place in India too, if women are not supported. It is
upto a man to stand up a say that yes he is going to be responsibile for his
actions and he will take care and bring up his child - immaterial of whether
it is going to be girl or a boy. Or else this proportion of man:women ratio
in India would even widen in yearn of having a boy child.
"Even if the Man to Woman ratio drastically becomes 4: 1 as above, the only
calamity
that will happen is that Men will not find enough women to marry, and will
probably result in a 10-15 % rise in official and unofficial prostitution.
That according to me is an acceptable evil as compared to popluation
explosion."
Dear Rajababu, if you think that men could go to prostitutes in such a
crisis, then why aren't women doing that now? What do you think is stopping
them ?
I agree, there is a big difference in men:women proportion in India. Let
this unequal ratio remain for this generation. Nature has it's own means of
balancing. Who are you are me to stop this ?
To sum up:-
1. Future lies in the hands on children. It is upto parents / guardian to
bring them up with good education.
2. There are helpage institutes who take care of wandered children. Help
such children to find such an institute.
3. Adopt, if you really care about exploding population and desire to have
a specific gender child.
4. Let us all start from today, let us educate atleast one couple per year
and stop them from aborting a girl child.
