[nukkad] Is there something to stars?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip of the day: These are the 'good old days' we will fondly remember.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

News item, TOI, July 23

1. 13 year old Tathagat Avtar Tulsi passed the NET [National Eligibility
test] conducted by CSIR that qualifies him for Junior Research Fellowship as
well as lecturership in Indian Universities as per UGC rules. This news was
published in TOI of 28 May, 2001, under the title,"A physics prodigy".
2. Following such publication, he was selected as a special case for the
Nobel Laureates meet, though the last date for application was April 10.
3. 17 young indian scientists were selected for this trip which lasted
between June 24 and July 9. The meeting with the Nobel Laureates was between
June 25 and 29. Remaining time, there were visits to 10 noted universities
in other parts of the country.
4. Professor Brian David Josephson of UK [who deliberated on 'Mind and
Physics' at the meet, was so impressed by Tathagat's "Principle of Nullity"
that he invited him for a second round of discussion.
5. After interacting with 19 Nobel laureates, Tathagat has become convinced
that his theories and thoughts are in the right direction. He has given up
plans to become a lecturer in physics and has decided to pursue Ph D in
experimental material science. The famous Max Plank Institute, Munich, has
already extended him an offer to carry out his research there.
6. Tathagat wants to be the youngest scientist to get Nobel prize. He is
confident of completing his research in 2 years and of putting his claim for
the nobel after that.
7. Tathagat says he experienced a strange sense of excitement when he passed
by Einstein's village inn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
COMMENTS [factual]
1. Tathagat had to file cases in High Court to be given permission to appear
in the CBSE board examinations and to pursue college studies in view of his
being under age.
2. Tathagat's father had meticulously planned his son's birth in such a way
that he was born under a certain auspicious confluence of stars. This was
done after elaborate calculations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------
COMMENTS [open minded possibilities]

1. The strange sense experienced by Tathagat while passing Einstein's
village inn might be just a coincidence of no significance. However, it
might be manifestation of some association with it in past life. [ That is
called open mind. It does not prove any association; but it neither
disproves it. Further evidence might confirm the association at some future
stage. But, in the first place, a possibility can be confirmed only when it
is enertained in the first place. Therein lies the importance of having an
open mind. Science has progressed over the ages up a ladder whose initial
rungs consist of possibilities imagined and hypotheses formulated, which are
later confirmed. I write this with reference to Milind's comments about my
being satirical about science].

2. The moment we entertain the possibility of rebirth and preservation of
soul [consisting of mind and sensory experiences etc., likeened, in IT
terminology, to a SW copy of the brain, which, after all, is a super
computer; AI is an active field of research at present and experiments are
already being conducted successfully to connect brain to small silicon chips
implanted in the body ], it becomes eminently easy to explain why certain
child prodigies manifest advanced talents in music, science, mathematics
etc. Such explanation has really been seriously offered in the past. It may
be with or without substance. But to declare it impossible simply because we
do not believe in it would be certainly unscientific.
