Re: Re........... "Hum apas me hi uljhe hue hain"....: A proud moment for all Indians

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip of the day: These are the 'good old days' we will fondly remember.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Ragini,

Now I think you are blowing the issue beyond proportions.
I have seen Maharashtrians do it and suspect that they do it more than
others simply because I have had more exposure to maharashtrians. But at the
same time I have seen many south Indians (even there there is
differentiation between Tamilians, Kannadigans, Keraliets etc..) so the
exact same thing.
I dont think the issue with Maharashtrians is an isolated one. Every
region does this things.
First, it is very natural to relate and associate one self with people
from the same region. There is nothing wrong in that. And when someone says
"Jai Maharashtra', he/she is not saying 'India murdabad' nor does he mean
it. As a Maharashtrian I feel proud that Nana Patekar is a great acrtor and
he is a Maharashtrian. What is wrong in that? The problem is public
expression of the same. That is not considered appropriate.
I am sure Tamilians feel proud about A.R. Rehman the same way, as with
so many other examples with different regions. That doesn't make people
anti-India does it?
And this is a very small issue compared to the issue of 'Language'. I
dont speak Tamil and I worked in Madras for 9 months. Believe me, a
non-Tamil speaking north Indian is not a very comfortable situation in
Madras or in Tamil Nadu. Many times I felt that I was targetted by the
auto -wallahs etc.. But that doesn't happen on that scale in Maharashtra.
People from every region have their own quirks about their language, their
people, etc.. But as long as they are not anti-India I dont think it is a
big issue.

Regards
Milind
