---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place.-" H. L. Mencken ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The secretary of ISAPI has denied the report that appeared in Hindustan Times. In an email to Naavi.org, he says: The report appeared after a Panel Discussion on 25th July and the discussion and debate included the much talked about subject of some ISPs blocking rival ISP's net telephony services. The issues thereof were discussed. This is not a new issue and it's been reported in the media widely for the last 2 months or so. The Hindustan Times report, however, gave an entirely different twist and I think quite a scary twist fm the customer's perspective) ..which had no basis at all. And the company that was supposedly heading this blocking campaign also clarifies it's stand: This refers to the news article published in Hindustan Times and referring Data Infosys as the brainchild behind the proposal for Blocking Yahoo and Hotmail by Indian ISPs. In this regard we wish to state that Data Infosys never favour blocking of any website and the Company's name has been misquoted by the Newspaper. Data Infosys is a responsible ISP and understand that the Internet is for all. Even we are against the blocking of Net Telephony sites as done by some of the ISPs in the country. Regards Company Secretary Data Infosys Ltd., Jaipur The original article is at: http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_27031,0003.htm and the full text of the above emails is at: http://www.naavi.org/cl_editorial/edit_10jul_30_1.html Since the original news report caused a great deal of discussion in international ISP circles, it behooves HT to publish an apology and/or a retraction. Let's see if/when they do it.
