Light speed barrier broken, claim scientists
LONDON: Scientists have claimed to have broken the ultimate speed barrier -- the speed of light -- which is expected to have mind-boggling implications, media reports said on Sunday.

In research carried out in the United States, particle physicists have shown that light pulses can be accelerated to up to 300 times the normal velocity of 186,000 miles per second.

It means that light will arrive at its destination almost before it has started its journey. In effect, it is leaping forward in time, a report in the Sunday Times said.

Exact details of the findings remain confidential because they have been submitted to Nature, the international scientific journal, for review prior to possible publication.

The work was carried out by Dr. Lijun Wang, of the NEC Research Institute in Princeton, who transmitted a pulse of light towards a chamber filled with specially treated caesium gas.(PTI) <<...OLE_Obj...>>

For your information. If it is correct, it is a giant leap forward. Is it? Or is it a giant leap backward? I don't mean literally. I mean backward in time!

According to the report, scientists say that the light reached the destination almost before it started! That is possible only if 'time' is an illusion. That is exactly what our forefathers said when they talked about the universe being "Maya". What the Rishis visualized through meditation, scientists are proving now!

What is speed of light? It is the distance traveled in a second. If time is an illusion, what is a second? That means speed of light itself is illusion. In other words, distance traveled by light is an illusion - that space does not exist! Or for that matter, does light exist?

Scientists watch space objects millions of light years away. It is quite possible that those objects may have ceased to exist thousands of years ago! They are seeing a light ray, which started millions of years ago and continues to travel even after the source died out. What they are seeing may be a non-existent object - Maya! (On second thoughts, what is million years when time is an illusion, what is light year when space is an illusion - we are seeing things that may never have existed!)

It is mindboggling indeed! What is even more mindboggling is the mind that visualized that everything is Maya. (Again on second thoughts, there may not be such a thing called mind - Maya, you know!). Man created "virtual reality" using electronics etc. May be the universe is "virtual reality" created by God!

I just pinched myself to reassure myself that I exist. Well, I do - at least in this virtual world!
