I like Indians very much but I'm often misunderstood
by Indians...
I work for Yokogawa Electric Corporation in Japan. My
Indian friends in Tokyo are divided into 2 groups that
are Yokogawa and Wipro.
Recently Yokogawa guys suddenly started giving me the
cold shoulders.
For example, I used to eat lunch with my Indian
friends at canteen, but suddenly they started having
lunch at another place without telling me.
When I gave Japanese fans to them, they asked me "Why
do you give this to me?" I said, "This is a gift from
me because you are going back to India in June."
What did I do? I always like Indians, that's it.
Maybe, is it because of the day when I went to watch
an Indian movie, "Taal" with Wipro friends and
Yokogawa friends.....after the movie, I didn't go home
together with Yokogawa friends but went to Indian
restaurant with Wipro friends?
One of Yokogawa friends told me that "I hated to go
out and was not interested in watching the movie but
went there because you invited me..."
Do Yokogawa guys have inferiority complex against
Wipro guys? Because Wipro is a big famous company that
hires only excellent engineers? Or because Wipro guys
have good job in Japan?
I don't understand them. If they have something in
their mind, why don't they tell me directly?
They totally forgot the wonderful memories that we
went out together and had a good time at Diwali
festival, Sakura Bazaar, Tobu World Square, etc...
I came up with one thing to my mind...
Wipro guys are not only my actual friends but also
they are my e-mail friends.
They read many of my mails and know how I love India
and Indians very much but
Yokogawa guys are not my e-mails friends.
They don't understand me, so misunderstanding occurs.
On Diwali festival, I went to the venue early in the
morning with Mouli and helped the setting as a
volunteer. Yokogawa guys came afternoon and sold
tickets as volunteers. To my surprise, they said to me
"Thank you for coming." when I went home. Why? I was
also a volunteer and not a guest.....They don't treat
me as an Indian....of course I'm a Japanese but my
heart is an Indian...they don't understand
Well, I have no intention to explain my Yokogawa
friends and don't care if they hate me or not.
I have experienced this kind of thing every year. When
the day their going back to India is coming, I don't
know why but they often give me the cold shoulders or
treat me with rude attitude as if all the bad
experience they had in Japan are my fault....because
other Japanese don't understand English and they are
formal in front of other Japanese but they can show
me anything instead...
Maybe it's a natural mental state for people who are
home sick.....
Someday, they'll remember....good memories in
Japan....I guess.
I wanted to give them a video tape that I took on
Sakura Bazaar with them and Wipro guys but maybe they
don't want it, so I may not give them...
They are going back to Bangalore on June 17.
