While I agree that capital punishment is essentially state sanctioned murder (of
which I am vehemently opposed), I do think that life imprisonment with no chance
of parole can be a suitable punishment. We as a society must not fall to the level
of the criminal by killing the killer, but at the same time, we must ensure that
those who commit heinous crimes in our society are permantly excluded from our
society.

Of course, my views on life imprisonment are noticeably harsher than the
implementation of the current system in the US. I would not allow conjugal visits,
access to television or books, or interaction with other prisoners. My version of
life imprisonment is the equivalent of state sanctioned life support and nothing
more. The murder should not be granted any semblance of the quality of life that
was inexhoriably denied their victims. Some would argue that this sort of
punishment is worse than a lethal injection. I would not disagree...
