[nukkad] IT market dry but only for half-baked competences.

Tip of the day: Essays and poems and articles. All original, all at

I have a frighteningly simple question for all our great unemployed
software "professionals":

“Okay, you have every construct available in the book, committed to
memory and can crack every quiz and question paper. Now, what software
solution, can you conjure up with your own intellect, on your own time
and expense, that will save a real customer, money and time?”

Many a self professed Java, Visual Basic or RDBMS programmer has been
stumped by their own lack of readiness to answer the above question.

In my experience of hiring programmers, I find most
street-institute-educated programmers completely unproductive, unless
further trained and financially supported by their employer-companies
for at least two more years.
Unfortunately for them. many post-bubble-recovery-period companies will
no longer support this lossy expense. They’d rather hire programmers
with a track record, who can hit the ground running, who can leverage
their all-round competence to uphold their employer company’s image with
a customer.

The era of irresponsible hype, unreasonably superheated stocks and
unfulfillable promises is gone forever.
Software unemployment today, is due more to half-baked competence than
to a drying marketplace. Customers aren’t giving up any of their
invested computing infrastructure, Internet connections nor
mobilephones.
Software opportunity still abounds, but only for those that can deliver!
