Hi Nukkies,

I've been getting quite a few mails from people in Bombay saying that they
have been recruited by Wonderdene and are wondering whether to join it or
not. So I thought it will be apt to write about it here and "warn" people.

Wonderdene brings people here and try to put them on projects (body
shopping). They might not be successful always, so there is a chance that
you be on bench for more than a month (sometimes even several months) at a
stretch. Again when you go on leave you will not be paid, you will be paid
your leave pay only at the end of the year. And even if you work for three
and a half years you will only get three year's leave pay as you have to
complete each year to get that year's leave pay. From what I heard recently
the company pays half the salary here and the other half in India. Do find
out how many days leave you are entitled to? It is generally 20/21 working
days here. (Wonderdene gave us only 10 days for the first year because we
did not know anything)You can find out more about leave from the Irish
Government site. Also they might promise you health insurance and they
generally don't pay any health insurance other than PRSI which is basic that
any company has to pay for it's employees that does not entitle you for any
hospital payment. Read each and every clause before you sign the contract.
Once signed then you are in trouble. As far as I know they keep the passport
in their custody for the first six months (that means you cannot travel
anywhere during that period)and also make you pay for the visa charges and
travel expenses if you quit within the first one year. Also the salary is
fixed for a year (each year) and any tax change that says that you will be
getting more pay will not be reflected in your pay slip :-(

If you have further queries, please don't hesitate to write to

Thanks & Regards,
-S.
