Hi there,
Ur article is indeed very informative and interesting
too, but let me tell u that sending data thru' power
cables is not an innovation. Maharashtra State
Electricity Board is already using it.  
Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC) is used in
Maharashtra (India) to transfer the data and voice
thru' the power lines to the respective Electrical
Control Stations located far away from the Generating
Stations for Maharashtra State Electricity Board
(MSEB). The engineers from IIT Mumbai, engineers from
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC)
worked on this project along with the engineers at GE
(USA), to facilitate speedy n efficient data transfer
thru the existing power cables to the different
Electrical Control n Sub-Stations in Maharashtra. This
project resulted in the overall improved Load Factor
of all the generating stations and decreased
transmission losses. That is why MSEB enjoyes highest
plant load factor without load shedding in Maharashtra
providing ample power for Maharashtra.
