Hi there,
U r right. I experienced such kind of things even in
US. When me n some of my friends went for a dancing
club, the moment we entered on the floor the whites
over there they just disappeared. 
The bus driver stares at us.
Even ppl in the smoking room don't gather around the
table in which u r sitting.
The only one reason why ppl in USA or rather outside
India take such crap n pretend to be non-sensative is
$ mania. Of course for the sake of money. (n I am not
exception to that!!!!!!) 
That's what I think....
