What expectations did you have from the movie ?

The cricket match was supposed to be a surprise packet of the movie.

It is a simple story depicting the triumph of the human spirit. Winning a
cricket match is simply a symbol.

I fail to understand what you were expecting. Were you expecting something
like 'Do Bigha Zameen' or its equivalent ?
Then you would have probably said something like "It was too boring... too
realistic .... too staid .... too depressing etc etc"

Was not the movie much better than the brainless movies of Govinda (too
numerous to mention) and the mindless films which Shahrukh (1 2 ka 4
?!?!?!?)  and Salman(Hello Brother @!%#) are dishing out.

What you are missing here is that someone in the industry is trying to do
something different and at the same time dish out clean entertainment.

I can watch Lagaan another 10 times and not be bored even though it is 3:42
long but I could not sit through Mohabattein even once.

I guess moral of the story is that one should keep one's expectations low
and be surpised than keep them high and be shocked
