Tip of the day: Counting in binary is just like counting in decimal,
if you are all thumbs.

written it because I can't bring myself to do it. For which
accept my apologies]
EIGHTEEN MINUTES TO DIE
It takes upto 18 minutes for a cow slaughtered in the Jewish and
Moslem way to actually die.
The idea is not to quickly axe it or slice the head with a sword so
it is severed at once. The concept is to just slice the carotid artery,
the main vessel like the one you feel throbbing in your neck.
This lets the blood spurt out, little by little, so the animal can
actually feel it's life seeping away.
The stroke by the killer often spares the wind pipe, which prevents
an immediate release.
Here is a minute by minute replay:
18 minutes and counting:
The cow or bull, often instinctively aware that it is going to be
murdered, begins to bawl in a loud and hoarse voice, hours
before the actual killing.
The knife is wielded by a professional butcher who specializes in
large animals such as cows, bulls, camels.
He is often naked waist upwards and carries a favorite knife which
has been sharpened for hours on end the night before.
17 minutes and counting:
He approaches the animal, now crazed with fear, from the side, and
with the help of assistants, grabs the cow by the horns and twists,
while the others rope the legs and pull the other way. The animal
falls with a thud to the floor.
15 minutes and counting:
At this time the killer grabs the nostrils and pulls the head upwards
to expose the neck, and with a deft stroke, with a prayer to God on
his lips, he slices the large throbbing artery, just enough to sever it.
12 minutes and counting:
The blood begins to spurt, sometimes several feet away. The cow,
in severe pain by the mortal wound, struggles to deal with the mortal
condition. The pain is so severe that it's pupils enlarge to almost
disappear.
8 minutes and counting:
Many a times the animal struggles and moves in a mad dance in death
slithering along the floor, leaving behind a large, wide streak of
living blood. As often it's urine and feaces eject out in primordial
fashion.
3 minutes and counting:
The beast, now beginning to exhaust itself, feels death approaching,
and begins to fiercely fight it off, and the struggle ensues with
frenzy and renewed strength, which is often a surprising display
to many around it who thought the play was over.
2 minutes and counting:
The killer at this stage reaches over, kneeling on the animal's
chest, and once more pulling at the nostrils to steady the large
head, with the fear ridden eyes looking on at him, he slices
deep and final, cutting this time also the wind pipe.
1 minute and counting:
The cow, now unable to breathe, but not yet dead, heaves and
kicks, with the breath escaping from the severed trachea in
loud croaks, sending speckles of froth in all directions.
This is, in a bizarre sense, the most painful and dazed moment
for the cow, or bull, or camel.
10 seconds and counting:
The animal jerks, kicks emptily at the air as though it thinks
it can still escape.
With a large sigh, it gives up life. The huge body settles
into death, and it seems as though it is asleep.
Except for 10 inch gash at the neck, a head nearly separated
from the torso, and a sea of blood.
0 seconds and th counting is done.
For eternity.
