yes they are, albeit indirectly - in our country the minority institutes and
places of worship recieve heavy subsidies and grants. it is using this
special grants and gulf money that most madrasas are set up - - not all of
them house terrorists and anti-social elements - -many of them are genuinely
into religious study n welfare but a significant number of them do.

i did not comapre convent schools with the madrassas housing terrorsists n
they cannot be compared directly as these two are different schools of
thought.one says "islam or the sword"(aggression) the other says "ONLY JESUS
saves/loves & is the way to heaven"(affection). so these cannot be compared
in any aspect except the end result - - attacking other faiths - that both
of them do.i do not know about kerala but many of my frinds in bombay n
relatives in karnataka have attended convent schools where it was mandatory
to attend church n where other faiths were not attacked directly but were
continuously taunted n jeered upon in a regular manner and they came out
either disillusioned or brainwashed.

agree with you on that one but precondition being the other subsidies should
go too.

there could be two things  a) they are as treacherous as the others n care
only for power  b) though they are in power they are not in majority but in
a complicated coalition with parties having absolutely tangential agendas
from theirs.

oh dear i very clearly said though it might not be entirely wrong i "HAVENT"
asked for an imposition of hindu law on everybody.

thats the saddest part and you can read about it in many a article. majority
organisations n institutions "DO NOT" recieve any kind of subsidy and a
nominal and minimal one at best.whatever money is got by them is primarily
by menas of private donations n not state subsidies.all the major hindu
spiritual leaders have grievances on this one.this is apart from the fact
that sankaracharya does not supply people with guns n ask them to kill
non-hindus, he does not ask them to go to other poor countries n try n
convert the people there to hinduism.

and like yourself kapil even i agree that we r whipping the issue of
religion on this site to death n we desperately need a refreshing change
humourous/informative/creative articles for instance  - - but it is
difficult to change the topic as the "pseudo-secular" ideology in india gets
on my nerves n i am compelled to respond when i see it advocating itself.
